Bay Area Host Committee Launches Leadership Council to Cement the Future of a Permanent, Sustainable Sports Commission

Inaugural founding members invited to join regional leadership in shaping the future of sport in the Bay

Mountain View, CA – June 30, 2026 – The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) today announced the launch of its inaugural Leadership Council, a strategic initiative designed to transform BAHC into a permanent, sustainable sports commission that will secure, support, and celebrate major sporting events in the region for decades to come.

Building on unprecedented momentum from hosting three mega-events in 18 months — NBA All-Star in February 2025, Super Bowl LX in February 2026, and the FIFA World Cup in June/July 2026 — BAHC is now calling on the Bay Area’s most influential leaders to join a founding cohort that will help sustain and grow the organization’s capacity to attract world-class events and drive regional economic impact.

“The Bay Area has always led what’s next, and we have an extraordinary opportunity in front of us to lead the future of sport in the region,” said Zaileen Janmohamed, President & CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee. “In just two years, we've demonstrated what’s possible when the Bay’s most powerful voices come together around a shared vision. The Leadership Council is about cementing BAHC’s future and ensuring we don’t lose momentum on the biggest stage in the world. We’re inviting exceptional leaders to join us in this mission — people who understand that what we’re building is once-in-a-generation.”

The Leadership Council will consist of accomplished executives, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders from across business, sports, technology, and philanthropy. Members will provide foundational financial support to the non-profit entity, strategic counsel on event bidding and positioning, and serve as senior ambassadors across private, public, and social networks to elevate and shape the Bay Area’s global profile in sport.

Additionally, members of the Leadership Council will expand on BAHC’s mission to Unite the Bay Area Through Sport by scaling its activities throughout the ecosystem of sport in the region -- from grassroots to youth to collegiate to semi-pro athletics, all the way up to world-class global events. The Council will also build on the work from the BAHC Super Bowl Innovation Summit to grow the region’s role on the leading edge of innovation in sport while gaining rare behind-the-scenes access to one of the highest concentrations of major pro franchises in the U.S., world-class venues, and the region’s most influential sports and business leaders.

For companies and organizations looking to contribute to the Bay Area’s sports future, BAHC is simultaneously launching a new Corporate Membership Program. Like the Leadership Council, corporate membership is tax-deductible and offers regional businesses meaningful avenues to support BAHC’s community programming, youth initiatives, and annual events.

BAHC has already delivered extraordinary regional impact. The three mega-events are expected to generate approximately $1.6 billion in economic impact across the nine-county Bay Area, attracting nearly 500,000 visitors, and generating more than $8 million in legacy initiatives supporting workforce programs, local business inclusion, and youth engagement. BAHC has also established 15+ proprietary events, including the BAHC Innovation Summit, and maintains unprecedented partnership with seven local professional sports teams.

Looking ahead, the Bay Area’s sports calendar includes a robust pipeline of major events, positioning the region to host at least one mega-sporting event every 2-3 years for the foreseeable future. These opportunities represent billions of dollars in potential economic impact and global visibility for the region.

“What makes this moment special isn’t just the events we've hosted or the economic value we’ve generated,” said Larry Baer, President & CEO of the San Francisco Giants. “It’s that we’ve proven the Bay Area can execute as a unified region on the world’s biggest stage. The Leadership Council ensures we preserve the relationships, expertise, and momentum we’ve built, and it positions us to write the next chapter of Bay Area sports history.”
