Statement From Bay Area Host Committee President & CEO Zaileen Janmohamed On Australia and Paraguay Selecting Bay Area Venues as Official FIFA World Cup Base Camps
“We are thrilled that Australia and Paraguay have selected Bay Area venues as their official base camps for FIFA World Cup 2026. Australia will train at the Oakland Roots/Soul Training Facility, and Paraguay will call San Jose State University home.
Team base camps serve as a home away from home for these teams, providing elite training facilities, accommodations, and operational support where they will train, rest, and prepare throughout the tournament.
These selections reflect the caliber of our facilities and the strength of our partnerships across the region. This means real economic opportunity for local vendors, restaurants, and businesses while bringing international visitors who will experience the authentic character of our communities.
This is what it looks like when a host region truly opens its doors. Our inclusion, our innovation, and our impact will be on full display as we welcome the world to the Bay Area.
Throughout their stay here, we have the chance to show Australia, Paraguay, and the world what makes the Bay Area remarkable. We're ready to deliver an unforgettable experience for these national teams and demonstrate why this region is the perfect place to host the biggest sporting event in the world.
We know the Bay Area will welcome both teams with open arms, and we expect a big turnout when Paraguay has its first match on June 18 and Australia on June 25, both at Levi’s Stadium.”
