Statement from BAHC President & CEO, Zaileen Janmohamed, on the WNBA All-Star Game coming to the Bay Area
San Francisco, CA – August 18, 2026
"The 2027 WNBA All-Star Game coming to the Bay Area is a testament to what the Golden State Valkyries have built in such a short time. Jess, Ohemaa, Natalie and the entire GSV team have ignited a passionate fanbase, created sellout energy, and built a community that has embraced women's basketball at scale. The WNBA saw that momentum and knew the Bay was ready for its biggest stage.
But this moment is bigger than one team. It's a chance for our region to bring a premier women's event to a place that has always led when it comes to lifting women up - in sport, in business, and far beyond. The Bay Area has set records and set the standard for women's empowerment across nearly every sector, and now we get to bring that same spirit to the WNBA's brightest weekend.
It's also a reflection of our region's proven track record of bringing innovation, inclusivity, and impact to major events. Over the past two years, we've successfully hosted NBA All-Star 2025, Super Bowl LX, and FIFA World Cup games with a creative, world-class approach that this region is known for. We do more than just host major events - we reimagine them. We intend to do exactly that for WNBA All-Star 2027, working alongside the WNBA and the Valkyries to deliver an experience that celebrates this league, its athletes, and the fans who love them - in a way that only the Bay Area can."
