Bay Area Host Committee Statement on Women's World Cup 2031 Host City Bid Announcement

"We're thrilled to see the Bay Area officially listed among the cities under consideration to host Women's World Cup matches in 2031. We are constantly looking at high profile, renowned events that fit with our mission of uniting the Bay Area through sport -- events that bring long-term benefits to the Bay Area’s visibility and reputation, future tourism, and community engagement. The Women’s World Cup fits squarely within the zone of major global events we are looking to attract, and we believe the Bay Area makes a strong case. Besides attracting and hosting NBA All-Star in 2025 and the Super Bowl and World Cup in 2026, the Bay Area is showing an incredible passion for and dedication to soccer and women’s sports. Just in the last couple years, Bay FC has launched to much success, Oracle Park hosted the highest attended NWSL match in league history, the Valkyries led the WNBA in home attendance, and the NWSL hosted its championship match here. In fact, the Bay Area was just named the top U.S. city for women’s sports by the New York Times. The Bay is built for this.”
