Bay Area Host Committee Marks 100 Days to Go Until the FIFA World Cup 2026™

BAHC Shares Planning Update Around Fan Experiences, Community Engagement and Upcoming Activities in Celebration of the World’s Game

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (March 3, 2026) — The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) today shared a comprehensive update on activities and initiatives in recognition of 100 days to go until the FIFA World Cup 2026. This milestone marks another step along the journey as the BAHC works to unite the region, drive economic growth, and bring the biggest sporting event in history closer to Bay Area residents.

With six matches scheduled to take place in the Bay starting on June 13, the region will come to life through team base camps, community watch parties, grassroots youth soccer engagement, and local business activation strategies designed to ensure international visitors and residents from all parts of the Bay can participate in the historic tournament.

“As we celebrate 100 days to go, we're focused on bringing to life initiatives and experiences that immerse fans in the entirety of the Bay Area," said Zaileen Janmohamed, President & CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee. "The FIFA World Cup is the world's biggest sporting event, and it requires a truly inclusive strategy. We learned from the Super Bowl that deliberately activating the broadest parts of our region creates meaningful economic impact and community connection. That's exactly what we're planning to do here — extend and expand upon that approach to ensure the Bay Area is engaged and welcoming for local fans, national teams and international visitors alike."

Key Initiatives Include:

Distributed Bay Area-Wide Fan Experience Strategy: BAHC’s fan experience strategy is two-fold – convening fan experiences at convenient locations across the Bay and working with local businesses to give them a playbook to host watch events at their locations.

  • BAHC and its partners will convene distributed watch parties at convenient locations across the region — creating gathering spaces where international visitors can experience the Bay and local fans can engage within their communities.

  • Beginning the first day of the tournament on Thursday, June 11, fans will be able to experience every FIFA World Cup 26 match at multiple locations around the Bay Area to celebrate with the community. All fan zones will be free and open to the public. Instead of one central fan fest, fan zones and celebrations will be managed by the nine counties and the broader the Bay Area, local DMOs and sports teams. Sites for fan experiences will be announced in the coming weeks.

  • BAHC is providing support for cities, hotels, bars, restaurants and local businesses through its Public Screening Playbook, featuring flexible activation opportunities, promotional materials, and targeted community engagement blitzes to maximize business opportunities during the tournament.

International Team Base Camps: Australia has selected the Oakland Roots/Soul Training Facility as its official team base camp for FIFA World Cup 2026, and San Jose State University is another potential base camp site for a team to choose. Team base camps serve as a home away from home for these teams, providing elite training facilities, accommodations, and operational support where they will train, rest, and prepare throughout the tournament.

FIFA World Cup Poster Unveil: In celebration of 100 Days to Go, the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Tournament Poster makes its debut, celebrating the true spirit, excitement, and unity of the tournament. This Tournament Poster showcases a collage-style composition with a player at its center, expressing the unique power of football to unite fans around the world. It marks the final piece of the FIFA World Cup 2026 poster collection, complementing the 16 Official Host City Posters released last year which included the SF Bay Area version created by LeRoid David.

Levi’s Stadium Grass Installation: Installation of grass for the World Cup at Levi’s Stadium will begin on March 16. A brand-new field ventilation system has been added into the floor/foundation of the stadium which will provide for better conditions not just for the World Cup, but for all future sporting events at the stadium - an improvement that comes at no cost to the City of Santa Clara.

FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour: The Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour will come to the Bay Area March 29-30 at Mission Rock in San Francisco.

Community Impact Programs: BAHC will continue successful initiatives from Super Bowl LX, including the innovative Bridge to Work program supporting workforce development, and the Sports for All program which will see a field of play refurbished in each of the nine counties of the Bay Area. In the run-up to the World Cup, a new Sports for All hub will be dedicated in Oakland.

"There's tremendous momentum building," Janmohamed added. "From the teams choosing to base here to the entrepreneurial spirit of our local businesses, the Bay Area is ready to show the world what hosting the FIFA World Cup in a region as inclusive and innovative as the Bay looks like."

For fans interested in securing tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026, the Last-Minute Sales Phase will begin in April. Fans interested in more information can visit FIFA.com/tickets, the official and preferred source of tickets for the tournament.
