Bay Area Host Committee Debuts FIFA World Cup™ Branding
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (May 18, 2023) – On the heels of yesterday’s unveiling of the FIFA World Cup 2026 creative campaigns and logos, today the Bay Area Host Committee is releasing its unique host city branding for the World Cup, which celebrates the region’s remarkable culture and allure. The Bay Area’s bespoke imagery differentiates it from the unique visual identities of each of the other Host Cities.
The branding for the Bay Area was inspired by the region’s most recognizable features, including the magical coastline of Northern California, the iconic shape and color of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the signature redwood trees that populate the state’s natural parks. The pixelation effect evokes the history and heritage of the technology industry in Silicon Valley.
“The Bay Area is a special and dynamic region, and this branding showcases our unique fingerprint and impact on global culture,” said Zaileen Janmohommed, President & CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee. “The natural beauty of the Bay, our iconic landmarks, and our legacy as an innovation hub were all critical factors in our selection as a World Cup host city, and I’m thrilled they’re featured in this visual story. In the Bay Area, not only are people’s differences accepted, they are encouraged. So as we prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, our mission is to ensure every Bay Area resident can see themselves - each person’s diversity, singularity, and power - as a part of this event, and these visuals are just the start of that effort.”
Today’s Bay Area specific brand announcement follows yesterday’s launch of the broader FIFA World Cup 2026 creative campaign in Los Angeles. The new #WeAre26 campaign will act as the cornerstone for all fan communications in the lead up to World Cup 2026 and drive excitement amongst communities throughout the host nations and the world.
The Bay Area was selected as a host venue for the FIFA World Cup 2026 alongside overwhelming support from community groups, elected officials, and private businesses across the region. The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the biggest sporting event in history – hosted in Mexico, Canada, and the United States across 16 Host Cities. In the new expanded format, 48 teams will participate in 104 matches over the multi-week tournament that will still feature the well-known 4 team groups followed by elimination rounds.
