A NEW ERA FOR THE BAY AREA HOST COMMITTEE

Traditionally, local host committees were formed temporarily for major events and disbanded after their conclusion. Now, the Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) has been established as a permanent sports commission, ensuring the Bay Area remains a premier destination for global sporting events. The BAHC is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization dedicated to uniting communities through sport, fostering economic vitality, and creating long-term community impact.

Led by President and CEO Zaileen Janmohamed, with the support of local professional sports team leaders, this is the first of its kind in the market, solidifying the Bay Area’s place as the epicenter of sports. Since being appointed in March 2023, Janmohamed has built a fully women-led C-suite focused on innovating the sports industry and ensuring long-term impact for the region.

The BAHC Tip-Off Event marks the start of an 18-month sports showcase, with the Bay Area hosting NBA All-Star 2025, Super Bowl LX, and FIFA World Cup 26™. This event will ignite momentum and highlight the Bay’s role as a global sports hub.

BREAKING NEWS: BAHC LAUNCHES FOUNDATION

Today, the BAHC formally launched the BAHC Foundation, a groundbreaking initiative that ensures major sporting events create long-term community benefits beyond the games.

The Foundation focuses on three key pillars:

  • Championing Workforce Equity & Advancement:

    • Bridge to Work provides pathways to employment for 500 individuals through marquee sporting events, with NBA All-Star 2025 serving as the pilot program for 50 participants. Tipping Point is a key partner in this initiative, working to remove barriers to employment and connect individuals from underserved communities to sustainable career opportunities. Through mentorship, training, and direct job placements, Bridge to Work leverages the momentum of these major sporting events to create real and lasting economic impact.

    • Super Bowl Source LX provides contracting opportunities for diverse businesses, ensuring local minority-owned suppliers gain access to Super Bowl LX-related projects and to career pathways, helping underserved communities gain stable employment.

  • Amplifying Sports for All & Sports for Change:

    • Expanding youth sports programs, increasing athletic access, and creating inclusive sporting opportunities across the Bay Area.

  • Cultivating Green Communities:

    • Promoting sustainability efforts, ensuring eco-friendly event practices, and fostering environmental responsibility in all BAHC initiatives.
