This week, the Bay Area Host Committee invited leaders across the region from professional sports, city and state government, and private industry to celebrate the announcement that the NBA All-Star Game is coming to the Bay Area in 2025, and to recognize the incredible sports momentum we are experiencing across the region. Super Bowl LX and the FIFA World Cup will follow quickly on the heels of the All-Star Game in 2026 for a blockbuster 18 months, and with professional sport expansion teams from the NWSL (Bay FC) and WNBA coming in 2024 and 2025, respectively, a legacy is being born for the entire region.

“There is something special happening in the Bay Area - our diverse communities, reputation for innovation and shared fandom are gaining traction and showing that our united community is the ultimate sports destination,” said Zaileen Janmohamed, CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC).

Joining Janmohamed in providing remarks were California Lieutenant Governor, Eleni Kounalakis, and BAHC board members: Aly Wagner, Olympic gold medalist, FOX Sports game analyst and Founder of Bay FC; and Brandon Schneider, President and COO of the Golden Gate Warriors.

The event also brought together each of the Bay Area’s professional sports teams’ 21 championship trophies, displaying the power of collaboration that is fueling the region’s sporting landscape, and attracting even more events in the future.

“Over the next few years, the eyes of the world will be on us – a region that we all love, where we live, where our employees work and play,” continued Janmohamed. “We need to seize on this opportunity - we can all benefit from these events and use the moment to show the country and the world who we are.”

As a long-term entity, the BAHC is poised to capitalize on the Bay Area’s sports momentum by establishing and growing operational and financing infrastructure, as well as ongoing relationships with the region’s best and brightest leaders. The result will be tangible as communities come together, united by sport, to reenergize the entire region.
