Bay Area Host Committee Announces Details of Cornerstone “Sports for All” Initiative
Community-Led Sports Hubs to Expand Development and Engagement Across the Region
San Francisco, CA (March 26, 2025) – The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) today shared more details around Sports for All, its landmark initiative aimed at transforming access to sport across the region. This community-focused program will support nine interconnected sports hubs, one in each Bay Area County, that will become venues for year-round programming, leadership training, and enhanced connectivity to major sporting events coming to the region.
“With Sports for All, we’re bringing inclusive, high-quality sports programming directly into the hearts of our Bay Area communities,” said Zaileen Janmohamed, president and CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee. “This initiative is a cornerstone of our long-term vision to expand access and develop future leaders through sport.”
Each Sports for All hub will serve as a community-led and owned sports space, designed to:
Offer year-round programming through expert sports-for-development organizations
Provide training and development for sports leaders, including coaches, referees, and educators
Support youth and community skill-building in and beyond sports
Establish interconnectivity, creating opportunities for engagement between hubs and around major sporting events
Delivered in partnership with the BAHC Foundation, this program provides involvement and investment opportunities for rights holders, partners, and event stakeholders to help make a lasting impact in Bay Area communities.
As part of its ongoing commitment to equal and inclusive access to sports, BAHC has also formally endorsed the Children’s Bill of Rights in Sports, an initiative from the Aspen Institute that affirms every child’s right to safe spaces to play. The Sports for All program embodies this vision, ensuring that young people—regardless of background—have access to safe, high-quality sports experiences that foster both personal growth and development, while providing valuable programs for the broader community.
The BAHC was a proud hosting partner of the Aspen Institute Project Play Summit earlier this week. Reflecting its focus on facilitating positive economic and societal impact to the Bay Area, the BAHC sponsored the Go Bay Area Bold breakout session track at the Summit, convening leading voices in sports, education, and policy to drive innovative solutions for increasing access and equity in youth sports.
Further details on Sports for All—including site locations, partners, and programming, as well as additional BAHC Foundation programs designed to bridge gaps in participation, develop future leaders, and build stronger, healthier communities, will be announced in the coming months.
