Bay Area Host Committee Partners with Kaiser Permanente to Champion Community Health Through Sport

Mountain View, CA (May 9, 2025) – The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) today announced Kaiser Permanente as a Founding Partner and its Official Medical Provider, uniting the two organizations with a shared commitment of improving the health of local communities as the region prepares to host the world’s biggest sporting events.

The partnership began during NBA All-Star in February 2025 and continues to scale as the BAHC prepares for Super Bowl LX and the FIFA World Cup in 2026. As part of the collaboration, Kaiser Permanente will support a range of initiatives including delivering on-site health services, community-focused wellness events, and workforce development initiatives that support Bay Area residents.

"The world's attention will be on the Bay Area in 2026, but our focus remains on the people who call this region home,” said Zaileen Janmohamed, President and CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee. "Kaiser Permanente recognizes that the Bay Area is stepping onto an unprecedented global stage — and that this is a moment to lead with purpose. Through this partnership, we’re leveraging these marquee events to create meaningful programs that will improve lives and create lasting impact across our communities.”

“Kaiser Permanente recognizes that good health starts in our communities, which is why we partner with organizations like the Bay Area Host Committee on initiatives that impact people’s lives,” said Mike Bowers, FACHE, interim president of Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region. "Through this partnership, we are working towards a shared goal of providing health care services, wellness initiatives, and career development opportunities that will improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”

Making a Lasting Impact Together

As a Founding Partner, Kaiser Permanente will support the Bay Area Host Committee in delivering community-focused programming and event experiences. That includes:

  • On-Site Event Health Services: As the Official Medical Provider, Kaiser Permanente will provide first aid, wellness screenings, and essential health services at BAHC-hosted community events tied to Super Bowl LX and the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

  • Community Engagement and Wellness Initiatives: In support of BAHC’s Sports for All Community Hubs, Kaiser Permanente will help expand access to year-round fitness programs, mental health resources, and wellness education – especially in underserved communities. This work is beginning alongside a new Sports for All community space at Martin Luther King Middle School in San Francisco’s Portola and Bayview neighborhoods.

  • Career Pathways Through the Bridge-to-Work Program: Kaiser Permanente will play a key role in BAHC’s Bridge-to-Work Program, supporting people in our communities with information and access to health care careers. The program will equip participants with career pathways and the skills needed for long-term employment in health-related fields through training, mentorship, and education initiatives.

  • Strategic Counsel: Kaiser Permanente will also have an executive representative on the BAHC’s Advisory Board, who will provide strategic insights and guidance on medical, community and other topics relevant to BAHC’s mission and initiatives.

As the Bay Area prepares to host the world’s biggest sporting events in 2026, the partnership between BAHC and Kaiser Permanente reflects a shared vision: ensuring these global moments deliver a legacy that lasts far beyond the events themselves. Together, the organizations are harnessing major sporting events as catalysts to expand access to regional sports and wellness programs. This effort is part of the Bay Area Host Committee Foundation’s broader mission to unlock the power and culture-shaping influence of mega-sporting events to drive access to community sports programs, create economic and workforce opportunities, and protect the Bay’s natural environment.
